#RainbowSnippets – 4-28-18

So. Uh. Holy crap–how is it almost freaking May? This year is blowing past like a hurricane and I’m not ready! Though, I AM ready for the wintry bullshit to pass us by. Winter in Indiana = frigid and bipolar. So I guess bring on spring. Only I have the bad feeling that we’re gonna go from winter to summer in 2 weeks flat LOL #RIP

I’ve missed a few #RainbowSnippets due to RL and being sick, but back on the horse this weekend 😀 #RainbowSnippets is a Facebook group for LGBTQ+ authors, readers, and bloggers to gather once a week to share six sentences from a work of fiction–a WIP or a finished work or even a 6-sentence book recommendation.

So today, here’s an excerpt from my next planned release, Three Dog Night (Sheltered Hearts #2)

He sagged against the door and tried to catch his racing heart as it sped along in his chest for all the wrong reasons. All he could see was the smile on that man’s face, so gentle and understanding—like he got it. Like he could look into Hemi’s soul with just a glance. But it was the softness in his voice, the kindness in his eyes… It was the kindness that made him ache. Why?

Why help him? He was nothing to the man, simply a stranger clinging to a bus stop sign in shitty weather. Right now, he wasn’t worth anything, not even the crumpled twenty dollar bill he still clenched in his hand.
